PreK – 2nd Grade

WHCA uses Abeka Curriculum for Preschool through 2nd Grade.

In 1954, Dr. Arlin Horton and his wife, Beka, started a Christian school in Pensacola, Florida. However, they soon encountered a problem: textbooks and curricula based on biblical educational philosophy were beginning to disappear. Committed to providing their students with the best education possible, they started creating their own materials. When administrators and teachers from other Christian schools saw how these resources could benefit their students and asked if they could purchase them, A Beka Book was established.

Pensacola Christian Academy, where Abeka materials are piloted and video lessons filmed.

Even with proven materials, teaching still requires time, dedication, and skill. To support growing Christian schools and homeschooling families, A Beka Academy began offering video instruction from the master teachers of Pensacola Christian Academy in 1985.

In 2014, digital textbooks, art supplies, teaching aids, and assessments were introduced to enhance learning and save time both in the classroom and at home.

In 2017, A Beka Book rebranded to Abeka, and all Abeka products—including Abeka Academy—became available at abeka.com.

What started with phonics-based readers and traditional arithmetic textbooks has now expanded to over 1,000 educational products for students from nursery through 12th grade, all developed by educators with real teaching experience. Today, Abeka continues to collaborate with teachers and homeschooling parents to provide excellent Christian education perspective.
